United Way Metropolitan Dallas + Reactivate Dallas Presents: Earth Day Festival of Service 2025!
The Earth Day Festival of Service: Mill City Community Beautification & Tree Planting is a vibrant celebration of community, art, and sustainability designed to unite families, volunteers, and community members in uplifting the Mill City neighborhood. This transformative event showcases the power of collective action to create lasting positive change in South Dallas.
The festival begins with an engaging community cleanup initiative, where volunteers tackle litter removal, blight remediation, garden refresh and symbolic tree planting. These efforts beautify shared spaces, foster environmental awareness, and inspire a sense of pride and ownership within the community. A festival highlight is the mural design project, led by talented local artists collaborating to create a stunning masterpiece reflecting Mill City’s resilience, values, and aspirations. This artwork is a lasting symbol of creativity, unity, and transformation. Once the clean-up is done, volunteers are encouraged to return to the main area at the Rec Center and enjoy the vendors, food and live music!
The live music performances add high-energy entertainment to the event, featuring a mix of local talent and nationally acclaimed artists. Made possible through partnerships with organizations like Ms. Alendra Lyons and the Mill City Teaching Farm, United Way Metropolitan Dallas, Texas Trees Foundation, National Park Service, and The Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation, this festival mobilizes volunteers. It engages sponsors to inspire sustainable practices and celebrate life. Together, we can create a brighter future for Mill City—one tree, one mural, and one unforgettable moment at a time.
